Northwood starting as holders of the Middlesex County Cup were knocked out of the competition at the quarter final stage against a very good footballing side in Ashford Town, who still have a 100% record in the Southern Youth League.

Again the Woods' cause wasn't helped by the unavailability of a number of players.

The scoreline did not reflect the amount of play Woods had in the first half, but they could not penetrate the solid Ashford Town defence.

Northwood couldn't contain Town's approach play which led to four goals before half-time, although Woods were back in the game at 2-1, as a Jamie Tompkins goal set up by Olly Wright, gave them a glimmer of hope. But the Woods conceded again within four minutes and just before half time with the last kick of the first-half.

Sadly the second-half was much the same and the side conceded within three minutes of the restart. Again a lack of concentration when defending a free-kick cost Woods of salvaging any comeback.

Woods were never out of contention in the second half but could not find the finishing touches after coming close on a number of occasions, bowing out of the competition tamely.
